Meanwhile, at Brooks Ave. we met 2nd year OL, Roald Marcova... who decided to take a schedule this summer in Venice to see more action in the surf...
At the Breakwater, L2R, (on a workout) OL Ben Gottlieb, OLS Ian Christensen, and OL Dan Truex.

... pounding the hard pack after making an ordinance enforcement is another 2nd year OL... shown in a close up in 2nd photo below...
#NoLongerAROOKIE, OL Jacob Smith at Ave 19... After having a schedule on SMS last summer, Jacob signed up for Venice to get a taste of the surf and the rescues, etc. in the Avenues...
Brandon, finished with his workout, drops the board off for Jacob to use... this is where we made our flip turn and headed back toward where we started.....
Back at the Breakwater we take a photo of the surf along the southside thereof and....
put in a request for a cup of water to satiate our thirst! Many thanks to OLS Christensen for the aqua!

Approaching SMS Tower 22, we notice OL Dru Jones on a foot patrol...
.... where he makes two solid preventions of two teenage girls, one of whom is using a selfie stick, while both of them are displaying classic sketchy swimming skills while treading water in a huge inshore hole feeding a developing rip current... x-ref: what could go wrong?!...
Both young ladies exit the water safely after being courteously waved back to the beach by OL Jones with the assistance of his whistle to gain their attention...
Approaching SMS Tower 17, we notice the guard was in the process of opening the tower when he left to go make an ordinance enforcement of a surfer in the designated swimming area... and it turns out to be...
none other than veteran OL, Chris Ro
Returning to CSHQ..... we stop to take another photo and discover that.....
the anticipated recurrent sauna and jacuzzi recreational facility continues to languish... rumor has it that the City of Santa Monica is insisting on the installation of fire sprinklers..... stay tuned as this situation continues to evolve. Could be some shuffleboard happening here soon in the meantime or some recurrent hopscotch..... BYO chalk!...
