First Flush: Bay St., Dec. 28, 2020

#FirstFlush...  Danger Will Robinson!  Avoid the ocean like the plague... because it's probably floating there right off shore.  72 Hours is the recommendation or glow in the dark, et. al.

The County Recurrent editorial staff convened at Bay St. in Santa Monica today at noon and here are the photos and videos of our investigation.  Note: HEAL THE BAY sent out its rapid response team this morning to start the clean up below the berm and adjacent to the water line and so we do not have photos that show the enormous amount of debris that was initially washed up on shore. Nevertheless, we collected two large plastic garbage bags full of #beachtrash to dispose of in the trash cans on the sand.  #winning.

And so here we go......

Inbound on PCH approaching Santa Monica Canyon with several LACo Beaches and Harbors vehicles monitoring the outflow from the canyon storm drain in the background.....

PCH southbound... it's raining again...

The beach entrance on Bicknell to SMS...

Bay St., aka, SMS Tower 20, below...

Below, thanks for the memories...

Pack in and PACK OUT Please!...  No one wants to dispose of your child's doody..... #justsayin...

All of the above photos, incidentally, were taken with my small Canon PowerShot (which is definitely not to be used in inclement weather).  Therefore, at this point in the story, I switched to my all weather Nikon Coolpix due to the rain and wind, etc....

This dude, below, just got out and is going to be glowing tonite!...

Be Prepared!  Gotta make sure the first aid kit is properly outfitted!...

Below, we finish up with several photos of the outflow from the infamous Pico-Kenter Storm Drain plus a video of the sludge and dark polluted water draining off from the urban corridor inland.
