The first official event of the evening was the annual rescue demonstration with some (lifeguard) pier jumpers, a lifeguard from the beach swimming out to the victims, the Baywatch rescue boat and crew, and, of course, the Coast Guard helicopter and crew...
meanwhile some competitors do some carbo loading of some pizza on the beach...
And then the first event, the 6-lifeguard run relay begins...
and it's Manhattan Beach that wins the run relay!...
and then the 4-lifeguard shallow water sprint relay begins with elbows flying and legs kicking...
OL Greg Crum, above & below, was an absolute beast as the lead off sprint swimmer for Manhattan Beach!...
... and it is Manhattan Beach that wins the sprint swim relay!...
