Three members of the International Life Saving Federation Medical Committee and a cohort have authored a definitive article on drowning just published in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine. I encourage you to read and share this article. It covers drowning from the initial onset to emergency room and hospital treatment. It would be worth sharing with your fellow lifeguards, chapters, agencies, and your local EMS system."

"Every drowning signals the failure of the most effective intervention — namely, prevention."
