Paddlers, Swimmers, Dories, Lifeguards... Oh My!...

Wasn't that just Swell!?...   The 2013 Santa Monica Pier Paddleboard Race & Ocean Festival was one for the ages!  Saturday, June 8, 2013 saw Huge Surf from the Southern Swell that was predicted early in the week and which this past Tuesday, June 4th, opined:

"This is a deepwater swell and will have plenty of muscle to it, so be ready to do battle!"

Our response:  They weren't kidding!     :-)

Every event witnessed and experienced 'carnage'.  And when we say carnage, we mean multiple rescues by L.A. County Ocean Lifeguards of swimmers in distress; paddlers getting hammered by the huge sets of waves, not to mention the strong lateral current hoovering toward the pier.  The dory crews got slammed too! Mother Nature was, indeed, large and in charge on this day.

So if you didn't get a chance to witness this carnival of ocean fun, have a look at the following blog posts which we've published for your consideration and entertainment.  Enjoy!

What a Fantastic Event!  Everyone that participated in the events of the day was tested.  A Spectacular Event that seems to be getting bigger and better each and every year.  The inclusiveness of this Annual Event is a testament to its success.  And this year Mother Nature invited herself along for the ride and for that we say:  Thank you very much!

That's all, Folks!

Until next time......
