Glendora "Colby" Fire Blanketing Beach Area Skies With Smoke...

At the time of this post, the Glendora "Colby" fire which started this morning just before 6 a.m., approximately, is burning out of control and is Zero Percent Contained!

The prevailing winds are pushing from north to south and the skies along the beach from Santa Monica to Redondo Beach and on out to Catalina are brown with smoke from said fire.  We took some photos from the skies in Pacific Palisades and along PCH southbound past Will Rogers State Beach into Santa Monica late this morning...  here they are...

"Some 700 firefighters were battling an out-of-control fire Thursday in the San Gabriel Mountain foothills north of Glendora, authorities said.

A house was destroyed in the Colby fire on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014. (Credit: KTLA)

The Colby Fire destroyed two homes after breaking out at approximately 5:50 a.m, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

It had burned 1,700 acres and was 0 percent contained as of 1:30 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
