Boat Warning At Will Rogers Tower #15...

Dateline: Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016 at Will Rogers State Beach at Tower #15 at approximately 5:40 pm... after I had spent over an hour unsuccessfully trying to dig out the mystery boat line approximately 100 feet south of the jetty at WRHQ... the on duty lifeguard at Tower #15, Wadley, was on a foot patrol and noticed a small fishing boat drifting in too close to shore.....  this occurred just after I had thrown in the towel, as it were, on the failed mission to unearth said mystery line... though OLS Pat O'Neil thinks it could be one of the Will Rogers workout buoy set ups with a 20 lb anchor.....  either that or a lobster trap... according to OL Jeff McConnel (Ret.).....

In any case, while Wadley was signaling and whistling to the boat to move toward open sea, I trotted over to Tower #15 and asked for the area vehicle to assist in hailing said vessel...... and then I went back to the shore line to try to get the boat's attention as well... along with my camera....  here are the photos and the video to show for it.....

Boat Warning At Will Rogers Tower #15: The Video

     https://youtu.be/cb8PbOxM1uE

After grabbing my gear inside WRHQ, I noticed that one of the Baywatch rescue boats had approached the small fishing boat... We would love to hear the explanation for the fishing boat reversing its way out to sea with the bow line and anchor in tow!?...   :-)

The fishing boat must have been o.k., however, because as the next photo shows... Baywatch heads toward MDR at a fast clip...

Until next time.....
