World's Loudest Whistle!...

aka, the Bruce Moncrief (Ecuadorian Surf Lifesaving) Whistle (BMW)!...

Recently, I lost my Orange BMW when I had to hastily remove my sunglasses, shirt and cap to make a rescue at SMS Tower #28... true story!...

And so I had to find a replacement... so I sent an email to Bruce and he answered back with a photo with his feet up on a deck somewhere on the Pacific Coast of Ecuador where he annually volunteers his time as an ocean lifeguard...

Bruce said he would send us a new story from his adventures in Ecuador this past Friday but he was just then heading out for Pizza, followed by a surf trip to Canoa the following day and would get back to us later.....

X-Ref;  FYI:  here's a previous post from Bruce about Ecuador, circa 2013...

Since I had to go to MDR this morning to get a new windshield parking sticker at the Beaches & Harbors office on Fiji Way, I stopped in at the "West Marine" store in Marina Village (right across from CPK) where Bruce told me I could pick up a replacement whistle.

This is the "WORLD'S LOUDEST WHISTLE!"  If someone is in the water and they don't hear you it is for one of two reasons:  (1) they are deaf; or (2) they are surfing and they are intentionally ignoring you (true story!)...  Veteran OL Justin Kirby uses one of these whistles and he swears by it, metaphorically speaking.

Follow along in the photo timeline and you too can own the World's Loudest Whistle for $9.99 plus tax.

... and if you are in the market for a waterproof bluetooth speaker... check out the RIPTIDE® speaker!...

and if you need a new parking pass (and you are an active LACo OL/OLS), just down the road and towards the ocean on Fiji Way is the Dept. of Beaches & Harbors... which is, of course, adjacent to where our MDR based Baywatch Rescue boats are based (see additional photo below).

For a new parking pass: be sure to bring along your Driver's License, Vehicle Registration, your Lifeguard I.D., and your current parking pass/sticker.

Until next time.....

Great post Will.
I got alot of friction at Brooks for using a acme thunder whistle.
Bit it worked to create fast contact between lifeguard and potential rip tide victim.
