"OptimisSport Distance Swim Challenge" and LACo Lifeguard Command Center

Dateline: Saturday, October 16, 2010; Santa Monica Pier, the venue for LACo's Command Center for the OptimisSport Distance Swim Challenge featuring a 12.5 mile ocean swim from Manhattan Beach Pier to the Santa Monica Pier, including both individual competitions and relays.





In the photo below, Section Chief Mickey Gallagher, points to the Department's tactical grid map in explaining safety protocols to a member of the OptimisSports Event Staff.






The Santa Monica Pier was also the venue for the post event award ceremonies, as well as vendor and sponsor tents.
