Pete Stange: Rest In Peace

We recently read of the passing of L.A. City ocean lifeguard legend, Pete Stange.
And today we were requested to post an obituary for Pete by his son, Jon, as follows: Hello William, a paddle boarding friend of mine had forwarded me your website to see if I wanted to post an announcement about my father’s passing on Tuesday October 5th, he was 90 years old. His name is Peter James Stange, he was an LA City lifeguard as far back as I can remember, a 1956 Olympic waterpolo athlete, father, grandfather and recently a great grandfather. He was married to Louise Stange, who passed on November 1st 2019. He was a true waterman, not only a lifeguard and waterpolo player but an avid free diver, fisherman, swimmer. He and his wife bought property in Malibu back when an ocean view lot went for $3K! They raised 3 boys, Bill, Bob and myself Jon. My dad and his brother Mike Stange were well known in the lifeguarding area. Anyway, if you can post an obituary on your website that would be great. Thank you, Jon Stange. And just shared by Jon, three beautiful photos of Pete and his three sons:
=========== As previously posted by Dave Story with our Lifeguard Alumni, the above photo and the following remarks: From: Lifeguard Alumni Date: October 5, 2021 Subject: Passing of Pete Stange Alumni, Mark Lozano just informed us that retired L.
