Inshore Holes Galore!...

Dateline:  Tuesday morning, March 15, 2016, along Santa Monica South.....   The recent El Nino storms have wreaked havoc along the shoreline in Santa Monica... There are now numerous huge inshore holes all along SMS... in our reconn this morning we got some photos and videos to share with you all...

Just to the left of SMS Tower #16 is a nice sized inshore hole...

And just to the left of SMS Tower #17 is another inshore hole...

About a 100 yards to the left of SMS Tower #24 (in the direction of Venice) is an absolutely Ginormous inshore hole...

Meanwhile, at SMS Tower #26, we check in with OLS Zimpelman and Capt. Katzer and check out the tide board...

Next thing you know, there arrives the sound of some heavy duty rotors from far off.....

We then hoofed it on down to SMS Tower #28, and observed one of our lifeguard vehicles standing by out front of Navy St. in Venice...


We also checked in on how our SMS Mermaid was doing and the shark below...



And yet another inshore hole out front of SMS Tower #28...


While looking around the beach at SMS Tower #28, we observed the approach of the Central Section Call Car (aka, Rescue 200) with OLS Beer at the wheel and OLS Curtis riding shotgun...




... and then we made our flip turn and headed back toward the Santa Monica Pier.....


We stopped at the SMS Tower #24 adjacent inshore hole and observed a surfer paddling out and so we took a couple photos plus another video...

Continuing on... we see Veteran OL, Ricardo Monroy, busy opening up SMS Tower #20 just shy of 1100 hrs...

No trip back avoids the infamous Pico-Kenter storm drain and the following short video shows that it continues to represent a black mark on society's impact on our beaches and ocean.....

Back at CSHQ, we see Section Chief Kissel busy with some paperwork in his department vehicle...


And rumor has it he's carrying all the answers to the upcoming OLS Exam...

p.s. traffic once again moving smoothly along Ocean Avenue past the Santa Monica Pier now that the repaving has apparently been completed...
