Tropical Storm Dolores...

Dateline: Saturday, July 18, 2015...

The morning began with Thunder and Lightning!  Literally!  The ocean was cleared of swimmers and surfers, etc. due to the weather... It cleared up for a bit thereafter, only for the next band of weather to assault the coast and all towers were shut down around 1400 hrs. In Venice, guards were told to shut their towers and haul a** to Division... where we gathered and participated in first aid scenarios...

And guess what... here are the photos and videos to prove it!...

Venice Peninsula at Ketch... at approx. 1130 hrs...

You can always tell when a rookie worked the tower last...

Meanwhile all towers got the word to shutter... and the undersigned hauled a** and barely made it back to the car when Dolores decided to really let loose with some rain...

After shuttering the towers, the guards along Venice beach were told to report to the garage at Division HQ in the Avenues adjacent to Venice Blvd...

Surfers heading home on the bike path...

In the garage at Division, OL's Garinger and Bardin...

Is there a Doctor in the house?!...

OL Locko exiting the vehicle after getting a ride from his shift at Ave 26... and he is soaked!  :-)

but he's still got a smile on his face!...

OL's getting some weight training and exercise...

I swear the OLS told me to shut the tower, drive to Division and change into civilian clothes!...
so how come everyone else is in uniform?!...   Additionally, OL Chuck Locko, at left, packed up and heading for home.

Below, L2R, OL's Maxie and Ricardo outside the garage at Division HQ in Venice...

It was a wet and wild day and fortunately everybody was safe and sound and off the beach and out of the water...  Call it a draw.  Dolores delivered some nasty weather but our lifeguards took care of the public and then took care of themselves.
