RE: New Entrance to E.R. at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center and Orthopaedic Hospital.
The Entrance to the Nethercutt Emergency Center at S.M.-UCLA Hospital is NOW located on 15th Street between Arizona Ave. and Wilshire Blvd., in Santa Monica. (S.M.-UCLA Emergency Center: phone (310) 319-4765)

Sample Driving Directions from Beach: Wilshire east to 15th St., turn right on 15th St., proceed down just short of next intersection at Arizona and turn left into E.R. Entrance which is well marked with several RED signs (see photo above of driveway entrance).
historical footnote: "Back in the day" before the massive remodel of S.M.-UCLA Hospital, the E.R. was located on 16th St. just south of Wilshire Blvd...and where Mickey Gallagher used to volunteer in the E.R. in the mid to late 1970's armed with a stethoscope and bp monitor ! True Story ! In any case, the E.R. is no longer on 16th St.! On the other hand, the main entrance to the hospital for visiting patients is at 1250 16th Street, on west side of 16th St. between Wilshire Blvd. and Arizona Ave.
Thus, hypothetically speaking, the closest E.R. to Central Section beach emergencies is S.M-UCLA on 15th St. and Arizona !
Next would be St. John's Hospital's E.R. on Santa Monica Blvd. just east of 20th St. on north side of Santa Monica Blvd.(St. John's Emergency Room: phone (310) 829-8212).
