Dateline: Friday, April 7, 2017, in a conversation late this afternoon with Capt. Remy Smith, Remy confirmed that Capt. Kirk Thomas retired as of last week!  KT Has Left The Building!...  Who the heck is going to run Santa Monica South now?!...  Talk about a experience vacuum?!... 

Unbeknownst to the undersigned, the photo below may, in fact, be the last "on duty" photo of KT, from March 8, 2017:

A few weeks earlier at the memorial service for Jeff Solomon on Feb. 25, 2017, KT was in uniform and on duty upstairs at CSHQ when these next two shots were taken of him...

Best wishes to Kirk.  You've earned your retirement and then some.  We hope to see you on the beach even if you no longer HAVE to watch the water.
