Dateline: Saturday, April 22, 2017 (aka, EarthDay2017) along Santa Monica South. Mid Day... As I was walking, off duty and on my own recognizance as a U.S. citizen exercising my freedom, from Ocean Park toward the Santa Monica Pier and approaching SMS Tower #24, I noticed a large group of college aged beach volleyball players, both young men and women gathered along the berm with one person explaining to the group what a "rip current" is... shortly thereafter the group en masse entered the ocean into a huge inshore hole and past onto a sand bar and just inside of an even bigger Rip Current!... It was then that I noticed veteran LACo OL, Chuck Locko, heading in that direction with rescue can and fin in hand!... Here is his story, er, our story of what then happened... including photos and a video!...

(note: a YouTube "Unlisted" video)
... and after making like 40 prevents, Chuck makes time to say hello to a young beach goer and his parents.
Doing it all!... Some public relations with a young beach goer and his parents...
When last we looked back and snapped this photo, Chuck was up on the deck still watching the water!...

Until next time.....
