Dateline: Thursday morning, June 27, 2019... along Santa Monica South.
The good news includes our Ocean Lifeguards, OLS staff, and the junior lifeguards...
The bad news is the #beachtrash along the water's edge on Santa Monica South, as well as #graffiti on some of the towers which continues to be a problem.

Below, between Tower 27 and 28 is the private day camp, AQUASURF, in session with a bunch of youngsters in attendance...
Meanwhile, between SMS Tower 28 and Tower 29 is the Santa Monica Junior Lifeguard program...

Below, some of the #beachtrash we observed, collected and threw away in the recycle bins on the beach... The City of Santa Monica is responsible for cleaning the beaches within the City of Santa Monica and they do a good job with their tractors and rakes but the hand picking up of trash along the water's edge continues to be a challenge for the City as evidenced by the following photos. It would be a simple matter to operate a truck with two employees to stop and pick up visible #beachtrash between the towers and the water's edge.
These beer cans were immediately adjacent to where the Junior Lifeguard program is set up between Towers 27 and 28... It would be a simple matter and certainly reasonable for the City of Santa Monica to have 2 staff members pick up this #beachtrash before the kids arrive for the Junior Lifeguard program. After all, it is the health and safety of children we are concerned about here...
