From: Dave Story and Gary Crum, LIFEGUARD ALUMNI
It is with great regret that I announce the passing of Ed Nelson this afternoon at 3:30pm, surrounded by family. I imagine that he is now swimming, biking & running in the skies. He left us doing what he loved, swimming in the annual Dwight Crum pier-to-pier swim, surrounded by teammates, friends and family on the beach & in the waters that day. We will forever miss our friend who completed over 20 Pier to Pier Swims and served as an Ocean Lifeguard for the Los Angeles County Lifeguards for 55 years. We will miss his smile and positive attitude toward life. Our greatest sympathy go out to his family and friends during these trying times. God speed "Fast Eddie".
