Re: Pool Volunteers for Summer Camp
Hi Everybody!!!! It is that time again!!!!! This year’s goal is “ONE ON ONE”… we did it last year, and I know we can do it again this year!! For every child, every day, ONE volunteer!!
Believe it or not, this will be our 18th annual weeklong summer camp. We are so grateful for the continued support of each volunteer who has helped us over the years in keeping our dream alive - to reach out to homeless and ‘at risk’ youth. This years camp will take place August 9 - August 13. The thirty-five children attending the camp range in age from eight to twelve years old and will attend camp at no expense to their families.
In recent years many of you have assisted by donating your time teaching basic swimming skills to our youth - many of whom have never seen the ocean or a swimming pool. My hope this year, is that each of you may be able to find at least one afternoon to spend with the children.
Helping a child conquer their fear of the water and learn to swim offers each one a lifelong gift. Everyone who has helped in the past knows the great reward of watching a child’s confidence grow over the course of the week as they become more comfortable in the water – like last year watching the kids who couldn’t swim on Monday jump off the high dive by Wednesday - AMAZING.

Directions to Pepperdine Pool: Make your favorite way to PCH and turn on John Tyler Drive. Pass the guard gate, go up the hill, park anywhere after the first speed bump. The pool is on the right.

Tuesday will be on the lifeguard boats in Marina Del Rey & at the beach in Santa Monica
and Friday will be at the Santa Monica Pier
The wonderful thing about memories is that no one can ever take them away from you and learning to swim is one of life’s moments that one never forgets.

NOTE: Volunteers are needed full days all five days as well as the week prior to prepare!
