The prevailing winds are pushing from north to south and the skies along the beach from Santa Monica to Redondo Beach and on out to Catalina are brown with smoke from said fire.  We took some photos from the skies in Pacific Palisades and along PCH southbound past Will Rogers State Beach into Santa Monica late this morning...  here they are...

Will Rogers Bluff Brush Fire, Jan. 14, 2014...

BRUSH FIRE FRWY CLOSED AT LINCOLN
The January Heat Wave brought an afternoon (Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014) two (2) acre brush fire on the hillside above Will Rogers Lifeguard Tower #15, just to the north of Santa Monica Canyon, right along PCH!  Here is a link to a local photographer, Al Alicea, who set up a web link to some great photos that he shot:

The morning after... Wed., Jan. 15th, we drove along the parking lot adjacent to WRHQ and then south on PCH and took some quick shots (no look)... of the fire damage... Here they are:

January Heat Wave!

It's a "Scorcher" outside today!  At approx. 2:30 pm this afternoon it was in the mid 80's in downtown Santa Monica.  Wonder what it was like inland?!...   And on the sand in Santa Monica it had to be at least 80 degrees.

No clouds. Just pure sunshine and blue skies.  BYO Sunglasses, sunscreen and hat highly recommended!

Here are few photos, plus a short video, to prove our point.

Enjoy!

"County Recurrent Takes A Hike!"...

And so we took a hike this afternoon to check out Central Section from way up in the Santa Monica Mountains along the west ridge of Temescal Canyon above Sunset in Pacific Palisades.  From that vantage point we could see all of Santa Monica Bay from Palos Verdes to Catalina to Pt. Dume.  Well see for yourself in the photos that follow...

New Year SMHQ Drive By...

As the sun was setting earlier this evening we headed down to SMHQ to pick up a 2014 Tide Book... no luck... they aren't in yet, but we saved alot of money on postcards of sunsets... because there was a beautiful sunset right off the Santa Monica Pier that was astonishing from the upper front deck at SMHQ!  Well, see for yourself!

Westbound on Pico Blvd... the gathering sunset.....

OLS Kevin Curtis ordering up cheeseburgers, fries and shakes all around... with Capt. Erik Albertson in the background.

Capt. Julio Rodriguez returning to HQ in his vehicle alonside OL Chris Smith, just off duty after pulling a shift at SMS Tower #16.

And definitely off duty after an all day shift at SMN Tower #15 is Veteran OL, Bill White.

And in a "County Recurrent" exclusive, our first  photo of newly minted OLS, Jeff Little, just off duty as the area permanent for the day at SMS. Shown here cleaning up the area vehicle so that it is nice and clean for the next day.  Bravo!

And last but not least, showing the attention to detail necessary and fitting for our righteous all wheel drive beach vehicles, is Capt. Julio Rodriguez, buffing out his captains vehicle so that it is clean and totally copacetic for the next day's Captain!  Love the pride, care and respect demonstrated here!
